Our History

Allied Members Credit Union was formed in 2008 with the merger of Comtax Credit Union and Security Credit Union... Because our links to our past and our identities are important to us, and we believe to our Members, Comtax and Security continue to operate as divisions of AMCU. We have done this because we think it is also important to be able to identify with the communities in which we operate while gaining the benefits and efficiencies that a larger organisation provides.

Comtax Credit Union was formed in 1948 to fully focus upon the financial needs of past, present and future ATO employees and their families.

Security Credit Union Ltd was established in 1964 as Social Security Officers Credit Union. It is dedicated to providing better financial services for the needs of Centrelink Staff.

The difference between banks and the Credit Union is that everything we do is specifically designed to enhance the financial well-being of our members. It's all about leaving more money in your pocket!

We are member-owned, which means we are a democratic organisation totally focused on your needs. Once you're a member, you are entitled to an equal say in the running of the Credit Union, you have the right to vote at Annual General Meetings and for the election of Board Directors - you can even stand for a position on the Board!
